I took today's challenge quite literally. I made a collage featuring Frank Lloyd Wright and his designs. I used some images from Google including a drawing and blueprints of the Fallingwater house and a sketch of the Guggenheim. I also included a little painting I did of a FLW designed building that is actually in my hometown of Hastings MN. I never realized that my hometown was so interesting. I grew up about 6 blocks from this building which we all thought was kind of weird looking. HA! It's currently an ugly brown color and looks like a mushroom. It was originally an aqua color and then I believe it was painted green. Anyway I wanted to include it on my card.
My other âeoeinfluenceâe for this card was my dad. He was a mechanical engineer and of course he had to work with architects in his firm. I would get to hear stories of how they were dreamers and came up with all these pie in the sky designs. As an engineer he came at it from the other angle and would see all the practical things that had to go into a building. So being the daughter of an engineer I kind of see architects as dreamersâe¦.but I do appreciate their designs.
I have never been to the house in Spring Green WI even though it's not that far from where I liveâe¦it would be a nice day trip ..perhaps this summer.
Oh and I can recommend a book about FLW called Loving Frank by Nancy Horan. It's a fictionalized version of a time in his life..very good and quite readable.
Thanks for the fun challenge Jean!

What a great collage...and even the layout fits with the theme. The rulers on the base layer look great...and having just discovered how brilliantly a draughting board works, I see how appropriate they are. The blueprint background is fab.Great work with your sketch of your local landmark.

Oh my gosh! Love this! What an awesome take on the challenge and love that you have a local connection! The ruler edges are my favorite, well, besides your drawing. Cool!

It was good to read how your Dad and growing up influenced you...you dreamer, you!

Polly you found some perfect elements for the Frank Lloyd teaparty. I use to live in a neighborhood that was inspired by him and just loved all the homes. I really miss them. Some teapotter is really going to love getting this beauty in the mail.
