Happy Birthday to my Happy Place
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: DancesWithHooves

Where to begin with this one? That's what I've been thinking for the past few weeks, with my husband's birthday coming up shortly. :-) He's always a tough one to create for, through no fault of his own... I just want to always make him the best most extra special card possible!

Looking at challenges from today and the past few weeks, and keeping in mind the plan I have for designing his cake this year (featuring negative space and bold pine trees), I came up with this this afternoon on a much-needed day off.

The one challenge I am partaking in that isn't self-explanatory is the ways to use it challenge 723... Card making resolutions. This card actually hits my two main resolutions right on the head... To be ahead of schedule making cards this year for those that I can predict a need for (such as my husband's birthday, which is about 3 weeks away yet) and to use what I already have (the leftover dsp from a past paper pumpkin, plus ribbon I've saved from various things - both examples on this card).

I added some dimension by fussy cutting out the tree lines that I stamped by hand, and added glitter Spritz to the back panel with the sentiment and the foreground line of trees.

Thanks as always to our selfless, creative hostesses for the perfect inspiration, and thank you to those of you who take the time to view my card!

Blessings,
C

I like the combination of the check paper with the ribbon, still keeping a masculine feel. The ombre effect gives the trees real depth. I'm intrigued by your plans for the cake! Mine, boringly, just wants a coffee sponge cake every year even though it's something I make anyway a few times throughout the year.

You came up with a great design for your husband's birthday card. He's going to love those pine trees and the sentiment is very sweet!

I really like how you set off the trees with the ribbon. I totally get the concept of trying to come up with something special for my husband and it being difficult each year.

This is stunning! The envelope is so elegant and the card is gorgeous! Good for you getting ahead on those projects! I started out with that as my goal in 2018 and I did fairly well. At least an improvement!

This is wonderful. Even the sparkle on a card for your husband works with the tree theme. Way to go on your resolutions. They are good ones and you nailed it.

Really love the Buffalo check band on the side of this beautiful card! Your husband should really be impressed and I need to join you in that resolution or working ahead! This card will be a good reminder for about three weeks won't it!
