Polly you have inspired me all year long and I love your MIX challenge, so I couldn't resist finishing this and giving her a home in MIX309.
I have a few clipboards with various images printed (and stamped) on copy paper. When I don't know what to create (or only have a short time frame) I pick up a clipboard and do a bit of colouring.
This has been an ongoing project for the past couple of months and i have loved every minute. She is a full A4 size and her colour is much more intense in real life, as usual I had trouble photographing this.
Her face is coloured with 3 Prismacolour pencils, using the side of the highly sharpened pencil, super light strokes moving back and forward and very slowly building up the colour. I never use a blending solution or blending pencil when colouring faces.
Her hair was done using 3 pencils, the more rounded and bluntish the lead is the better. Most of the colour was applied firmly and I also used Zest it pencil blend and the blending pencil was scrubbed on very hard. Completely opposite to to colouring her face (or trees).
Using a Copic marker, I added dark highlights to her hair and it would be fair to say that my BG09 Copic marker will never be the same again. I also used a hint of bright green Copic.
The background was done by using a foam dauber and an itty bit of distress ink which I swished off onto a scrap of paper first.
The necklace is a super happy accident. I added my usual gazillion liquid pearls to her neck in beige and cream, then I got carried away with my new jade colour - all this work and it looked terrible.
Thankfully it is hot here at the moment and the liquid pearls hadn't completely set, so I used my finger and feathered out the pearls. Phew it worked.
Thanks so much for looking.

This is what I call professional work! Look at the color in that face, right down to the shadows on the nose and under her chin! Amazing work! WOW! How much I'd love to see this in progress and watch you create it. This is truly a masterful work of art!

Bestill my heard Susie, this is so stunning I am speechless. You used my favorite colors of teal and orange and created an incredible masterpiece with them. I am still shaking my head over how this stunning necklace came about- only a true artist could do this! Your joy of creating bubbles over into your artwork and I am so inspired by this Susie! I will send you some subzero temperatures if you are interested in a bit of a cool down. ~Karen.

This is just amazing, Susie. The 2 techniques you use with colored pencils create such different looks for the hair and skin. The necklace is gorgeous...isn't serendipity wonderful. That hair really caught my eye...i have been under a little stress this year and my hair has been falling out, so I finally went to a wig store toda y to buy a little clip on "topper". I was surrounded by hair everywhere, but nothing as pretty as what you create.
