I have had a hard time designing with the Altenew paper collection I purchased a couple of years ago. It just did not "fit" the style I was doing at the time. Now that I have incorporated it with Vicki Boutin crayon coloring and embellishments well.....they seem made for each other!
I used TH Distress crayons and a water brush to color the b&w flowered paper used under the photo. All of the embellishments are Vicki's mixed media printed die cuts.

You may have struggled to use these papers before, but when you went for it, the result was fabulous! Love the photo technique you used and all the overlapping die-cuts.
