I struggled a bit with this challenge because my favorite books lately have been murder mystery-Jonathon Kellerman's Alex Delaware psychologist who assists the detective Milo Sturgis of the LAPD. So, other than a scary Halloween theme, nothing was coming to mind. So, I just started building the base for the book frame. What a clever idea to interleave the accordion folded paper, Anita.
I wanted the cover to be able to withstand manipulation so I soaked the cardstock with the glycerin spray I remembered from the faux leather wallet tutorial. Embossed it and let it dry over night, still thinking, what kind of book am I going to make.
Tending toward the romantic, so I printed up a photo of my paternal grandparents and gave it a sepia tone. After I selected them the decorating was easy but still, what kind of book is this? So, I decided it would just be simple: "Our Family".
I hope my Teapotter sis enjoys genealogy. I included a brief story about my immigrant grandparents and how they met. If she wants to place a pic of her family inside, I also included an oval piece cut to the exact size so she can glue on her own family and put it on top of my grandparents, if she chooses.

Oh my goodness Sonja, this is exquisite. What a beautiful idea to share your grandparents story with a very, very, very lucky Teapotter. I can't stay and chat, I have to scroll back again and take in all the details!!

Wow, just look at what you built after starting your card. So much went into it and turned out beautiful. All the extras just go into adding to your card---neat and a great job.

How fabulous. I had been thinking I'd like to go for a soft leather look the next time I try this...now I know for sure I will...and I even got some glycerine recently. I have an old volume of Dante in a soft white leather binding which was a prize my great grandfather won in university, I've always wanted to use it for inspiration. The deep embossed texture is perfect, and the dotted print inside. Actually, this reminds me so much of all the little leather-bound velvet-lined photo frames of distant relatives that were all over the house. The velvet was just that deep dusty rose colour. Fabulous project, I'm envious of the lucky person receiving this.
And phew, for a moment I thought you had someone in Australia and I was going to say the rosebuds wouldn't make it through their stringent border quarantine, but I'm glad to reassure myself that you only have to mail within North America.

WOW this is outstanding Sonja!!!!!! The attention to detail is amazing and it's done in my favorite style...vintage! What a wonderful keepsake this will be to the person who receives it. I really like the idea of having a vintage photo inside...and those dried rosebuds are so precious. Now I need to go back and look at it again..
