I really wanted to do Technique Challenge # 700 to celebrate SCS and Sabrina's choice. Though fancy folds and measuring are not my strong suit, it really was fun to make this and watch it evolve into a tribute to my Mom's sewing room, which started by using the stitched EF for the base. It has a 1970's feel to it as she loved the colors brown, orange and "harvest" gold. There was a long picture window above her working area with a lovely view. There are 9 stamps used in this scene, some hand cut and other's with the Scan n Cut which came in handy to resize the dress form by an inch for better scale. I am going to put this next to her picture in my sewing room.

Oh, this brought a tear to my eye reading your write-up, Lori. What a sweet tribute and memories of your mother. Mine sewed too - I finished off a shirt she had started for my dad after she died, and made one for my nephew with some tractor fabric she had bought.
This does indeed have a seventies feel with those colours - the only room in our house that had a fitted carpet it was those warm colours. I don't know what my favourite detail in this is - the view through the window, the little "create" hanging or that amazing little box full of yarn bobbins. And I can just imagine all the different lengths of fabric tucked away in those drawers.
p.s. - because I use a DIY heat gun rather than a craft one, you won't see that much burnt glue in my future ;-). By the time the glue is bubbling, so is the card!

What a quaint sewing room!!! Very vintage and so realistic, I love all of the details. I am especially taken with all of the embossed stitched details!!! I've never seen this embossing folder--can you tell me which one you used? Also, the furniture pieces look so real, this is great! This card is absolutely WONDERFUL!!!

Oh, Lori, this is truly a precious tribute to your beloved mom! Like Sabrina, it brought a tear to my eyes as I read all the details and remember well the "harvest" gold. The details are amazing, and I love all the time and "love" you put into this card. You are so blessed to have such a wonderful memory of and deep love for your mom...and you are like her! She surely would love this and blessed you to such a precious heart! Hugs!
