From the Tic-Tac-Tues I used both the middle horizontal row (color resist, die cut, summer), and the diagonal row starting in the lower left to the upper right (green, die cut, dimension).
The main panel is SU Garden Green cut to 4-3/4"x 4-3/4". I used the flower stamp from the SU "Inf Full Bloom" set, and stamped it randomly on the green panel using Craftsmart white pigment ink.
I then stamped the monarch butterfly from the SU "Wonderful Wings" set using Stazon Jet Black ink on SU Whisper White cardstock. I also stamped the butterfly on a piece of black Sulky Puffy Foam using the white ink (so I could see it to cut around after it dried). I also stamped three flowers from the same stamp set used for the green panel onto SU Whisper White using Stazon Jet Black ink.
The flowers were first colored using the Crayola white crayon on the tips of all three flowers, and where there a little bit of petal overlap showing. I also lightly colored the center of each flower with the white crayon.
I then used a craft sponge and sponged each flower with SU So Saffron ink all over (with a little darker toward the center of the flower), then sponged the center portion only with SU Calypso Coral. I "fussy cut" each blossom out and set them aside.
The stamped monarch butterfy image was hand colored using SU Stampin' Write markers in retired colors Only Orange, Really Rust, and Summer Sun. The butterfly was then "fussy cut" out using paper snips. I also cut out the white stamped butterfly from the black foam. I found I had to cut the foam "inside the lines" so foam wouldn't peak out beyond the colored butterfly. I glued the colored butterfly onto the foam cut-out using Tombow glue.
A SU So Saffron circle was die cut using the SU "Stitched Shapes" Framelits Dies, and glued with Tombow glue to the green panel just slightly above and to the right of center.
The colored flowers were attached to the green main panel with three Mini Glue Dots each. I made sure to let two of the flowers extend out slightly beyond the green panel for added depth and interest. The foam-backed butterfly was attached with three glue dots horizontally across wings and body to the center of the yellow die-cut circle. I wanted the flowers and butterfly to appear to lift off the paper, so I didn't glue them down, just a few glue dots each.
The green panel was then matted with a 4-3/4" square panel of SU So Saffron, which was in turn glued to the 5" card base cut from SU Basic Black and folded in half to make a 5" square card.
I felt I met all of the objectives of the tic-tac-toe challenge:
Horizontal Row:
Color Resist - tips and edges of the flowers
Die Cut - center circle
Summer - what can say more about summer
than a Monarch butterfly?
Lower Left to Upper Right Diagonal:
Green - the main card front panel
Die-Cut - again the center circle
Dimension - the use of foam under the butterfly
Besides the fussy cutting with paper snips, this card was really quite easy! I am rating its difficulty level as a "2" out of a possible "5".
