I made this card for last Tuesday's Teapot Party. Jean was our hostess and she chose the theme of "Troubled Waters" for a dear alphabet sister who is going through a very tough time right now. There is something about watching dragonflies dance over water and tall grasses that is incredibly calming for me so that is is theme I selected for this card. Also, the color purple is something I carry around with me or wear when I am feeling overwhelmed by life. I also made this card for this week's Alphabet Challenge for the Letter V for Violet. The deep purple layer on this card was embossed with a rectangle die by placing a tan mat down, then my cardstock, then the die with the blade facing down into the tan mat. The image panel was sponged with 2 inks while still in the rectangle die. The dragonflies were stamped, sponged with color, then fussy cut out. Clear Wink of Stella was added to the dragonfly bodies and wings for some added shimmer and shine. The sentiment was stamped, die cut, then sponged lightly while still in the die. Victoria, you know I love you dearly! I want you to know you and your dear Ohana are in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs my dear sis! ~Karen.

Oh, there is something so soothing to the look of this. (I typed that before I even read your write up.) Love your purple and plum. I love the effect you did with sponging the dragonflies. Actually gorgeous sponging all round. Thanks for the instructions too on doing that panel. This is a beautiful card that I am sure Victoria will just appreciate so much. Fav'd!

Karen, you are right on target about the color purple. This is a very calming card. Dragonflies are a symbol of peacefulness to me, too. I guess they are gentle unless you are a mosquito! I love the grasses and the background. A real beauty and your words for Victoria are heartfelt.

That is a very CAS design for you, and beautiful. I love that deep purple. It reminds me of a wonderful teacher I had when I was 9-11. I went to a small school with just 3 teachers; she was the principal and taught the oldest three classes, and she wore that colour a lot. Along with the soft sponging bitvis very tranquil and peaceful, and your dragonflies are beauties. Dry embossed frames are one of my go-to techniques for clean card design, but I'm not sure I've ever tried them in anything other than Kraft or white before... I'll have to change that!

Magical Beautiful Magnificent Masterpiece Sis Karen!! You know I find you to be masterful at framing your creations and when I think of you for some reason I always think purple and I can’t recall many cards I sent you that wasn’t purple ! These are such beautiful colors you have chosen for this precious card. Love how you sponged your colors within the frames and how they are acting like frames too. I hope that made sense.
