For today's Inspiration Challenge - we are to look at the US Mint Sheets Site.
I too collected stamps in my youth - I loved sending away for collections of different countries from ads in magazines - and soaked stamps off envelopes of mail received at home - I still have my stamp album and lots of stamps in a box in the attic as my son wasn't interested and my grands are too young yet....
So - I was looking through the US Mint Sheets site and decided to randomly open Group 4400 - and found this monarch butterfly sheet.
It reminded me that I have only used my PTI Bitty Butterfly Cover Plate die once! and, of course, it's perfect for the stamp sheet!
I water colored a panel of watercolor paper by rubbing Distress inks on my craft mat (Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and Candied Apple), spritzing with water and then pouncing the panel into the watery colors, doing one color at a time and drying with my heat tool after each color.
I die cut the butterfly background out of black card and layered it over the watercolored panel with foam dots. I stamped and die cut the sentiment and added tiny twinkles randomly around the panel.
Oh! You used my favorite background technique and it turned out beautifully for butterflies! What a cool cover plate and so perfect for your inspiration! Gorgeous card!
