Pam is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has given us the handsome combo of Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Marina Mist. The dessert option this week is "Beach."
I had so much fun making this card! I stamped the images, die cut them and colored with Copic markers. I dug around in my paper stash to find some Cherry Cobbler DS paper, and was tickled when I found this one with a little ship's wheel on it--just the right size to paper piece for my sunbather's swimsuit.
After mulling over some options for the ocean, I went with my alcohol inks, some Yupo paper, and an old paint brush. Using a craft mat, I squirted some Alcohol Blending Solution on the Yupo paper, then drops of the two colors of alcohol inks, then used the paint brush to swirl the colors around to suggest waves in the ocean.
Next I tore a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, sponged the torn edge with Crumb Cake ink, stamped speckles with the same ink, then touched here and there all over this piece with a Nuvo glitter brush to give the sand some sparkle.
Stamped the sentiment, popped the layer up with foam tape, put the ball and purse on the beach, and popped up my sunbather and her float on more foam tape. I couldn't resist going over the ship's wheel with the glitter brush, as well, and added a few random gems in the ocean. I have no idea what they represent!
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!

Barbara, your card is beautiful. I love the little girl relaxing in the water wearing her fantastic swimsuit (great find). You did a great job creating the water with alcohol ink and Yupo. The beach portion of the torn cardstock, beach bag, and ball are perfect! Great card, Barbara!

Barbara, your little sunbather is adorable and how clever and fortunate to have enough cardstock with the ships wheel for her swimsuit! Jackpot!! Hehe
Your water background is awesome with depth and dimension with alcohol inks and your sand edge is perfect for the beach scene.
So many great techniques to create your beach masterpiece!! Very inspiring m!

Oh my goodness, is this ever cute! I have had a crush on the adorable PI illustrations from their beginnings. Guess who gave me my first set? Amy Sheffer! A Dirty Dozen Designer from way back. The challenge colors look amazing on this and the card design is executed perfectly. That water and beach sand is the best!

Barbara I love your little beach scene. The water waves look great, awesome texture. The little girl looks relaxed on the float. I'm flying out to see my granddaughters in Hawaii and hope to have many relaxing times like this in the next few weeks. Thanks for jump starting my smile.
