Pam is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has given us the handsome combo of Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Marina Mist. The dessert option this week is "Beach."
I had so much fun making this card! I stamped the images, die cut them and colored with Copic markers. I dug around in my paper stash to find some Cherry Cobbler DS paper, and was tickled when I found this one with a little ship's wheel on it--just the right size to paper piece for my sunbather's swimsuit.
After mulling over some options for the ocean, I went with my alcohol inks, some Yupo paper, and an old paint brush. Using a craft mat, I squirted some Alcohol Blending Solution on the Yupo paper, then drops of the two colors of alcohol inks, then used the paint brush to swirl the colors around to suggest waves in the ocean.
Next I tore a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, sponged the torn edge with Crumb Cake ink, stamped speckles with the same ink, then touched here and there all over this piece with a Nuvo glitter brush to give the sand some sparkle.
Stamped the sentiment, popped the layer up with foam tape, put the ball and purse on the beach, and popped up my sunbather and her float on more foam tape. I couldn't resist going over the ship's wheel with the glitter brush, as well, and added a few random gems in the ocean. I have no idea what they represent!
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!

I can see that this was a wicked fun card to make, Barbara. I love that paper pieced bathing suit. It jumped right out at me. And that ocean! Wow! I was wondering how you made it... Gorgeous! FUN FUN FUN!

That's just adorable, Barbara! The alcohol ink "water" came out so well, and I love that you found that dsp that worked perfectly for her swimsuit. Very fun and clever design!
