I haven't done the color challenge in forever!! I smooshed a panel of wc cs with DI in colors as close as I could come to today's colors and then splattered some additional black on the panel. Cut off a portion of this panel and adhered to card front. Die cut the tree, punched the bird, but felt it needed some "grounding" so I also cut a narrow strip of black and embossed the sentiment on this. Adhered the strip, bird and tree. I like the image of a bird for sympathy because I think it sends the message that this is not the end.

Oh, Maura! This is so beautiful, and your watercolor panel is gorgeous! It makes such a lovely backdrop for the silhouette tree (and I love how you've grounded it). Yes, I love the bird and its symbolism. Such a beautiful and serene sympathy card -- definitely one of the hardest to make. But this will be cherished! So very happy that you decided to join us for this week's Color Challenge! Hope you'll join us again next week, my friend! Hugs and love! xoxo

Maura, I have missed seeing you in the gallery! Your cards are always so inspiring! This one, too! The smooshed panel is lovely, and the black die-cuts are perfect for a sympathy card. I like the symbolism of the bird especially!

Such a striking design! Lovely use of the colors. I really like the white embossed sentiment on the black field.

Beautifully designed Maura. Love the gorgeous mix of colours on your smooshed panel. The black adds a beautiful contrast and perfect for a sympathy card. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour! xx

Maura - this is so lovely in it's simplicity - The colored smooched bg is fabulous and looks amazing behind that die cut tree. Definitely a fav for me!
