I haven't done the color challenge in forever!! I smooshed a panel of wc cs with DI in colors as close as I could come to today's colors and then splattered some additional black on the panel. Cut off a portion of this panel and adhered to card front. Die cut the tree, punched the bird, but felt it needed some "grounding" so I also cut a narrow strip of black and embossed the sentiment on this. Adhered the strip, bird and tree. I like the image of a bird for sympathy because I think it sends the message that this is not the end.

Your card is gorgeous Maura and it's so nice to see you in the CC gallery this week, you've been missed! I feel like ink smooshing is sometimes a crap shoot in terms of how the inks will blend but yours turns out perfectly for the background behind the silhouette of the tree. Beautiful sympathy card, perfect for both challenges.

A terrific CAS design! Love the colours in the background - perfect for the silhouettes of bird and tree. I love the way the bird is flying off the background panel. Thanks so much for joining us at CAS Watercolour.

I love everything about this, Maura! The watercolor background is so pretty using those colors! I need to remember them. The black die cut tree and bird are so striking with the background and a perfect proportion! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour!
