For Ky's great Africa-Inspired MIXed media challenge. I could make cards for this one all day - but stuff such as sympathy cards and prep for future samples is calling. I had great fun making this, though.
Mediums - DOX inks, acrylic spray, acrylic texture gel, Polychromos pencils
I started by creating a wrinkle free distress background using frayed burlap, antique linen and fossilised amber DOX, then misted it with Brusho acrylic spray (Sand). Using Marvy Markers and Kittie Kit stamps I stamped the ground, and the greenery was stamped using Forest Moss distress. Then I stamped in my antelope, oryx, whatever he is and coloured him. Added the sentiment, and then stencilled some glass bead gel medium over the bush - still not quite dry. Distressed the edges, sponged with Soot Black and then added the hardware and raffia.
For the base layer, I stamped Leopard on kraft using a mix of browns. Then I embossed it with the crackle ef and swiped over the embossing with scattered straw ef. Distressed and sponged the edges...and then decided to glue on a scrap of tissue paper from my box. It was left over from a previous MIX challenge (244); sprayed with gold shimmer spray from Brusho and then stamped with the leaves when it was dry. I added scraps in two corners of my base, then stuck it to a white base.
