Default MIX254 - Africa Inspired - 12/8/17

Title: Africa Inspired

Hostess: Ky (a.k.a. Scrapacat)

Keyword: MIX254

View the MIX254 gallery!

Welcome to a new Mix-Ability challenge! Some of you may know that I go on an annual mission trip to Africa. This year we went to Zambia, last year we were in Malawi. We take free medical clinics to the distant villages and I am always humbled by the people, their generosity, their instant love and acceptance.

We see a lot of non-threatening wildlife on these trips to the villages, but then we take a small photo safari at the end as a reward for a job well done. I was thrilled this year when I got to see 2 beautiful lions in the wild (no cages between us, either) with a fresh kill. Talk about holy wow! So I thought it would be wonderful to let you all experience a little Africa from where you are. Please be inspired by anything African (not just what's shown below). The wildlife, the beautiful vivid colors and patterns of their fabrics, the amazing boabab trees (and their legend) or anything else that comes to mind.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO USE AN ANIMAL STAMP. Heehee! But you can! If you'd like to add a twist, use spots like a cheetah, stripes like a zebra, shapes like a giraffe - well, you get the idea. Have FUN with this!

Remember to use at least two mediums for this mixed media challenge and always have fun being creative!

When you upload your project to the gallery add "MIX254" as a keyword so the rest of us can find you in this week's challenge gallery.

And here's mine. I should have used my "tribes of Southern Africa teatowel as a backdrop - except that it's not clean . It was a gift from our friends in Mozambique.

Here's my African Birthday.

Wonderful pictures of beautiful things! Thank you so much for sharing all of them! My son (a physician) went on a medical mission to Kenya. He, too, loved the people he met and said the same things about how welcoming, gracious and warm they were/are.

Christmas is rushing toward us at light speed. Have you gotten your shopping done? The house decorated? I'm procrastinating!
