This card is for this months Fan Club October theme - Creepy Crawly.
At first glance this image looks quite normal...take a closer look and you will see a near-dead bird in her hair...how creepy is that!
The image is just printed on normal copy paper. I couloured her with Prismacolour pencils and Zest-It pencil blend. Highlights were added using Copic markers. I am not precious about my Copics, but if you are it's probably best to clean off your marker on a scrap of paper before putting it away.
On an image like this, I colour the most difficult things first - eyes, then face, then lips. If all that works I continue on my merry way.
After I finished colouring, I carefully tore around the edges and then adhered her to a rejected mixed media background using a glue stick.
When I was applying double sided tape to the completed panel, I somehow stained her face. This is where my card got seriously creepy. The only thing to do was to amputate her face. I ever so carefully used a scalpel to cut around her face and then scrapped it off.
I've attached a little insert so you can see where I cut into her. Because this is just copy paper, and it was stuck on a gesso base, it was easy to cut out and peel off. I quickly printed a new face, coloured it then stuck it in place.

Susie,
Wow, she is a bit creepy and you are so right you have to look very close at her hair to see the bird!! It is fantastic though, with your beautiful coloring!!

You have so much talent, Susie. The coloring on this is stunning...especially the eyes and face. I love the almost dead bird on her head...anyone can wear a normal hat, but how many ladies can look this beautiful wearing a dead bird. Gorgeous creation.

What a brilliant rescue job, Susie. Just well you were using copy paper, it would have been much harder with anything thicker! She looks like a stage design costume for a fairy. Your colouring is fabulous, and the Liquid Pearls are incredibly done.

If I ever decided to get a face lift, I know who to call!!!! Beautifully done, I love the added liquid pearls around her face. Are they to camouflage the scares?

This is so beautiful! Loved your coloring and how you rescued the project. And you are right, the image looked so serene initially but once you pointed out the bird, it looked creepy! The liquid pearls really complete the image!

She is a beauty! I did not notice the bird at first. You have colored her wonderfully. I had to giggle. I always colored the face first myself. I took a class and the teacher said color the face last. I panicked! I said, "until
I color the face I don't know if I'm keeping it." She said, "that changed today." I think it is si near you do this coloring on copy paper. I hope you enjoyed the kinfolk! They're only little once. Hugs
