F4A379 Days of Spring - thanks!
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: Boss

I made this card for the free-for-all Friday challenge, 5/26/17, "Look Ma! NO Stamps". The challenge was to create something and it not use stamps on the project.
This was the inspiration I needed to get started on a thank you card to my dear friend. She had given me this sweet days of spring die for my birthday, and I wanted to use the die cut in the thank you card.

The arched top of this diecut was so distinctive, that I thought it called for a card base that echoed the shape. My solution was to use a circle die that fit over the top part of an A2 card base. When I ran it through the Big Shot, I only put it through enough to cut the top corners of the card, then I backed it out of the machine. The result is what you see here - an A2 card base with nicely rounded corners at the top.

Before attaching the diecut spring scene to the front of the card, I masked the front of the card base with masking paper that I had diecut with the die, so I would have an open space to watercolor. I used blue & pink Zigs, scribbled on an acrylic block and picked up with a wet watercolor brush to quickly create a blue sky background for the die cut scene to rest on.

The rest of the assembly of this card was quite simple, once I was able to peel off the Stick-it adhesive backing on the spring scene. This was tedious beyond words! Because of the tiny flowers, and the tiny leaves, the backing had to be taken off in very tiny portions. It was a crazy-making task to say the least! Note to self: do not use Stick-it as an adhesive on this die EVER again! Ha.... Intricate diecut and adhesives is a never ending challenge to me. Please tell me I'm not the only one who struggles with this issue!

When I saw this challenge to make a card using no stamps, I contemplated eliminating the use of a sentiment on the front of this card, just to meet the demands of the challenge. Then I remembered these fun Avery Elle Sentimental word dies that were hiding in my stash. I thought this diecut thanks, watercolored with the Zigs to match the colors in the scene, was a perfect finishing touch for this "No Stamps" card for my friend. I did stroke on some Nuvo glimmer pen for some subtle shimmer on the sentiment and in the scene.

Thank you very kindly for stopping by to take a peek at my thanks card for the "Look Ma! NO Stamps" Challenge!

You are not the only one who struggles with this issue, lol...This turned out wonderfully though. Love the different colors on your diecut!

Beautiful scene. A work of art. The rounded card top is lovely. The die-cut sentiment is terrific. TFS

when you got small die cuts to put on a card either you can die cut them already taped with double side tape on the back, or and that's what I do, you can take a tiny brush and liquid glue, but it stays difficult!!
I admire your water coloring too!! beautiful Spring scene
