A friend of ours, who is blind, has a birthday this week. I have difficulty making cards for her, since she really can't see them, so I try to come up with creative ways to allow her to experience the cards at least somewhat. I used a template to create the card base, and adhered patterned paper to the side panels, and a green solid paper from the same patterned paper pad to the middle section. I got the idea for the flower pot from a card I saw on Pinterest. I first die cut my flowers & leaves from watercolor paper, and used Distress inks to watercolor them. I cut a flower pot shape & rim from watercolor paper, and inked them with Tea Dye & Rusty Hinge inks; & some Vintage Photo ink around the edges for depth. I adhered the rim piece to the top with foam tape, and dry-brushed on some grey acrylic paint to mimic the distressing that terra cotta pots can get. I used Perfect Paper Adhesive to glue my flower layers together, and to glue them & the leaves to the pot. Finally, I glued the pot to the card front. For the greeting, I created a template in Photoshop, with "Happy Birthday" spelled out in Braille. I flipped that horizontally, so it read from right to left, and printed it on the back of a strip of coral cardstock. I used an embossing stylus & a foam pad to emboss the dots, then inked the edges with Abandoned Coral, and flipped it over & adhered it to my card base. By the time I finished adhering that to my card base, I felt the dots had gotten a bit squooshed, and weren't that obvious. So I first tried going over each with a white gel pen, but that didn't make them 3-D enough, so I ended up adding a drop of Clear Rock Candy Distress Stickles over each dot, and let that dry. As a finishing touch, I added Gold Stickles to each of the flower centers. Hopefully she will enjoy this card!

I am sure she will enjoy this lovely card! There is a lady at our church that is nearly blind, so I try to use lots of texture on the cards I make for her. She says she loves my cards and keeps them just so she can feel them. It helps that I can put the card in her mailbox at church, because to USPS them would be difficult.
