MIX190 Stained Glass Deer
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: Cook22

 For Ky's MIX190 - Richer Colours challenge.
This is only marginally mixed media, but I did use both Sharpies and regular black pens and a white gel pen along with my pencils.
It was also time-consuming, but extremely enjoyable and something I would like to do again.

I stamped and masked the deer, stamped the tree, and used a Nestabilities rectangle to draw the inner frame. Before work I got a lot of it coloured, except for the sky, so I finished that off when I got home, and added a plain border round it. To save drying time, I used ep to add a glaze, instead of a wet varnish. Then came the problem of what to do with it...in the end I sponged a card base with Tumbled Glass, and pulled out some paper with a leaf print in it. It was still a bit not quite what I needed, so I stamped the IO Script stamp over it. And then I made a few more little tiled pieces to look as if they had fallen off.
I know the colours in the frame aren't quite right; we have a bus strike and I had a long walk home from work (yes, I could have got a tram and train, and it would have taken just as long so on a sunny day I opted for the walk) so I'm not functioning on all four cylinders.
Thanks for a really fun technique, Ky - a different stained glass to any I have done previously.

Sabrina, this is marvelous. Between the coloring and the lines for the glass, I can see how this took a bit of time to create! The script bg and your frame work well. I love the tiles on the bg. Looks to me like it is a stain glass in work! Hope the bus strike ends soon. Long walks are nice, but not necessarily at the end of a work day! Hope you get a foot rub tonight ;)

This is prettier than real stained glass, Sabrina. The little "glass pieces" on the sides are such a great idea. What a fabulous mix of colors and patterns. Into my favs.

This is darling! I really love the extra pieces, because if I did real stained glass it'd be all on the ground. So pretty - certain to cheer up anyone's day. Thanks so much for playing!

Ditto what everyone else said. Wow Sabrina this is fantastic, if you have created this on less than 4 cylinders I can't wait to see what you create when you are back to full speed. I love everything about this!!!

This technique sure looks challenging but you, naturally, Sabrina have nailed it!! Love the extra "tiles" that have fallen down, very creative!!
