 | | Made for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Technique Challenge #34-16: http://52cct.blogspot.co.uk/
The Technique required for this challenge was water coloring. I recalled I had some really intricate Christmas stamps in my Stampin' Up! collection from the 1990's that would work great for water coloring. So I pulled out my 1995 'Harvest of Friendship' fireplace stampset, and my 1993 'Stitched Santa' traditional Santa set for this project. Neither set are listed in Splitcoaststampers index of SU sets, but I've requested they be added to the SCS list.
The hardest part of the project was to cut out masks for the stockings so that I could stamp them first, mask them, then stamp the fireplace over the top. This technique allowed me to have the stockings hanging on the mantle without the bricks showing through. After stamping the fireplace, I removed the masking paper from the stockings and saved them for a future project.
I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to align the candles and sleigh on top of the mantle.
From there on out, I simply used my Aqua Painter to pick up ink from the ink pads (9 of them!!) and carefully colored in the items.
The paper dimensions were:
- 7"x10" Real Red card base folded in half
- 6.75"x4.75" for the Old Olive mat behind the main panel
- 6.5"x4.5" white water color paper
Because of the time it took, I plan on sending this to someone VERY special this Christmas! |
