I'm taking another stab at entering a Challenge due to Miss Anne Ryan's gentle urging. I've put this card together to satisfy the need for using 2 different paper patterns. I've also included a paper I haven't wanted to cut into because it's so pretty. That one is one I'm having trouble cutting into because I think it IS very pretty, but it's also my nemesis. It's a heavy thick texture gold paper with a normal paper backing attached. It is extremely stiff and can crack if it is handled less than delicately, and it doesn't really want to lay flat...EVER. I've logged in my battle with it on another floral card description in my Gallery (All That Glitters). Using that paper for the center flower on this card was less of a battle this time. I refused to let it win. I began by cutting just a small square from the corner of the large roll of it that I had bought. I used an abundance of removable tape to attach the peony bg die to it and to attach the whole shebang to the Big Shot base. It seem agreeable to my running it through my Big Shot. So far, so good. After I removed it from the die it spoinged right back into it's permanent curved shape like a rebellious teenager. I had no trouble gluing the outline peony die to it as that was easy to curve. Then I brought out the heavy artillery: Heavy Duty Carpet Tape. Slapped that stuff all over the back of it and gently spread it's stiff little curve open and smashed it onto the card. Just the little edges that I didn't fully cover with the carpet tape were still giving their all to proving that no matter what I do they will always remain curved. I let them have their way since it didn't detract from the overall look.
I like this for a masculine card. It is a little darker than I would have liked, but I like the different patterns on it. Especially against the gold cork paper. I didn't want the sentiment to stand out too much to detract from the flowers. I think it works. Maybe it should be more cheery though being a birthday card. Might be good for a sympathy card. Maybe I'll try to rip off the stickers and use a sympathy sticker....maybe.
Thanks for looking. And thanks Anne for the nudge.

I think this is so beautiful, Ms. Ellen. Despite having to bring the hammer and the heavy duty carpet tape, you still managed to have your way and ended up with a beautiful card. Did you emboss the flowers w/gold EF? This is worthy of a frame. funny, I was cleaning up my craft space and came upon your card again. Now that, too, is a card worthy of framing. maybe we'll be in the frame shop at the same time in different cities. Glad you won the race against your runaway papers. That gold on cork is certainly difficult to cut. Hopefully, they're replacing your new paper order.

Had to come back: You've given me some great inspiration here. I don't have those flowers but I do have what's called 'riot of petals" stampin up image I paid $52 for 4 years ago but have never used. I gotta go case this work of art. Hugs and love

Anne...A big Thank You for your words of encouragement! To answer your question, no I didn't use an EF anywhere on the card. The metallic gold edges on the flowers are the Memory Box outline die.

Okay. Got it. Got your pm. You are so welcome. Glad Megan is going to straighten out your order. Yes, that is wonderful service. I'll have to remember to call them if any future orders arrive like the first one. Yes, I know you can iron paper from the backside but I didn't think the gold cork would survive the heat. Isn't the silver one absolutely just the greatest? Fine choice you made on that one, girl. I like what you told your mom about praying for others. That was a wonderful idea. Hugs and love.

Thank you for leaving a comment on my seashells and liking the colour combo. I made an effort to use Prismacolor pencil crayons that I never used before because I keep going back to the same colours all the time.
This is a stunning card. By reading your post it sounds like you were certainly challenged. It's well deserved to be in a favourites gallery. Congratulations.
