TLC575 Feathered fun

Photo Details
Poster: susie australia

This is for Karen's terrific challenge to 'paint your stamps'.

I tried painting the stamp with Brusho's....major fail so I quickly squirted on more water and then wiped the watery powder all over the card very gently with baby wipe. There was still a lot of colour on the baby wipe so I scrubbed it over another 4" square of cardstock (the turqoise card).

My Zig markers have not had an outing in about 8 years. Every single marker was still lovely and juicy after all that time - unlike my usless Timmy H markers that dried up just looking at them. I bought a bottle of Distress Refresh, but I haven't tried it yet, I digress....

I aligned the feather stamp in MISTI, then coloured the stamp with Zig marker, very lightly spritzed on some water, then stamped onto cardstock. I repeated the process several times - ahhh the magic of MISTI.

I stencilled on some watered down Dylusions white paint using a stippling brush (not a real stippling brush, its what I rename all my brushes that I forget to wash before they dry hard).

I doodled a border and added the sentiment - the blue card didn't look right, it was very stark so I gently rubbed my walnut stain foam blending tool over the entire 4" panel. To add a bit of contrast I randlomly coloured a few feather with a white Sharpie paint pen.

The green card was done by using several green Zig markers and a brown marker. Initially this was going to be for the CAS challenge, hence the glittery stickles, I got a bit carried away so needless to say this is not going in the CAS challenge LOL.

Thank you for looking. I hope you have a fun crafty week.

LOL I'm giggling over your definition of 'stipple brushes'! Never reinvent the wheel unless you're just aching to do so. ;) LOVE all 3 of these cards! Love'em!

WOW!! LOVE love love these! What you create from mishaps is absolutely incredible. Laughed out loud about the TH markers! Some even are shipped dry. I pulled the nibs out and added reinkers- worked like a charm! Love that you used the paint to create the backgrounds. Those colors are gorgoeous and your stenciling brought these to life!

I think you should add it to the CAS challenge anyway! You did the technique and they are wonderfully "open" to the idea of CAS. You made me laugh at your "stippling" brush. Ha, now I know what to call mine and I won't feel guilty about not catching it before it dried! LOVE all three masterpieces!!!

I have an odd stipling brush too using your wonderful definition. Love your cards - love how they evolved (as per your description) and the end results. Need to check my markers!

Susie, these are fantastic! Isn't it interesting, I don't watercolor much with my TH brushes either (I simply forget to use my ink pad or the re-inkers that I've paid dearly for - ack!)

All three are very creative - lovely my friend!

Adore your feather stamp, Susie. I have a Hermes scarf that has almost this exact motif in a full circle. What you've done with each card is FABULOUS....but then you don't do anything that isn't. : )
