Today is Color Challenge Day, and so here is a card that began last Saturday as an Inspiration Challenge Card and was finally finished this morning in Color Challenge mode.
Of course, I have modified the colors a bit. Pretend that coral is red, for instance. The red just didn't look right to me. I own several shades of red card stock and ink and rarely use them, so I wasn't surprised that I couldn't make it happen here.
This card was originally inspired by THIS image. The blue bird, the branches, the Kraft, it's all there. Didn't get the string in, oddly, since getting twine on a card is something I usually have no trouble doing.
But although I stuck in my comfort zone in some things, I did do some things I rarely do here - all those die cuts, and that ODB set designed to go with my Nestie Labels 17 which I don't think I have ever yet used. Nice set, but hey ODB people, do you know that the oval in the middle of that pretty stamp does not correlate in size to any of the large and small oval Nesties? (Scan N Cut to the rescue.)
And finally, as I worked on this today, I was reminded of a thread (I think it's still active as I write this) wherein you were asked what 10 items you would grab from your craft room if it was on fire. I didn't post a list, but I have to confess, I should have. It would have had one item: 1. My IO Cover A Card Background Stamp in Script. I cannot seem to function without that BG stamp. I love it to the extreme. It never lets me down. It makes everything look better. It's like the Little Black Dress of background stamps.
No dessert for me because I did it in reverse. One card, two challenges. Those of you who can make two cards in a day, I bow before your amazingness.
TFL!

Lovin' the details.....those delicate branches with the leaves...so cool and having them against the embossing..awesome idea! Love the stamped nestie and script inset framing the vintage bird (one of the few OI sets I don't have but still love)...your combination of elements is once again so delightful! And your write ups are fun to read....you cracked me up at the LBD comment...I'm sure I have a stamp of similar value ;)

Robin, this is SO pretty and love how you used the colors! I have to agree with you about reds. You did add it though and it counts! LOVE the color of the bird against the neutral background. Beautiful job coloring him too. I do love your sense of humor and enjoy reading your posts as much as I love seeing your cards.
