A friend lent me this wonderful stamp of a little village in England called Castle Combe. I visited this village with my Dad once and he fell in love with it. So when I saw Christine's stamp, I knew I had to make a card for my Dad. I used the Happy New Year sentiment on it as it's a winter scene in the image and it's still January so figure I can send him a Happy New Year card.
It's coloured with plain old inexpensive watercolour paints - they aren't as vibrant as a lot of the newer watercolour mediums but I think the softness suits the wintery scene. I added glitter to all the rooftops and trees and along the snow lines. The stamp is the perfect shape to cut out with an oval die for today's Ways to Use It challenge - "Ovals".
It's also for the Merry Monday challenge this week - "Houses" - don't those little houses look like perfect places to spend Christmas? I hope the Merry Monday people forgive me for putting "Happy New Year" on the card!! But my Dad is 90 and not in the best of health so I didn't want to save it for next Christmas for him in case he's no longer here.

This card will bring him back there, if only in memory. What a great card for him!

I've been to Castle Combe outside of Bath!!.....a back in time village. What memories you brought back for me. Susan! Thanks. Your coloring is beautifully and softly done to capture the wintertime scene. I was there in June, but I can imagine this is exactly what it looks like in the winter. Fabulous stamp. TFS

Love this image of the Village, it brings back some wonderful memories for myself as well. I have family in the UK, previously in the Cotswolds, now in Tywyn Wales and have been lucky enough to visit several times over the years. It is as beautiful as your card depicts it to be. Thanks for sharing this

How great that you could find such a personal image to make a card for your Dad. It's so beautiful in the soft colors and added snow. Thanks for playing in the challenge.
Oh I love your winter time card. I think making the special card for your Dad captures the whole spirit of making it in the first place. I would love to see England. I am a bit obsessed with castles. Great card and a lovely thought behind it. Your Dad will love it. Thanks for sharing it Susan.
