A friend lent me this wonderful stamp of a little village in England called Castle Combe. I visited this village with my Dad once and he fell in love with it. So when I saw Christine's stamp, I knew I had to make a card for my Dad. I used the Happy New Year sentiment on it as it's a winter scene in the image and it's still January so figure I can send him a Happy New Year card.
It's coloured with plain old inexpensive watercolour paints - they aren't as vibrant as a lot of the newer watercolour mediums but I think the softness suits the wintery scene. I added glitter to all the rooftops and trees and along the snow lines. The stamp is the perfect shape to cut out with an oval die for today's Ways to Use It challenge - "Ovals".
It's also for the Merry Monday challenge this week - "Houses" - don't those little houses look like perfect places to spend Christmas? I hope the Merry Monday people forgive me for putting "Happy New Year" on the card!! But my Dad is 90 and not in the best of health so I didn't want to save it for next Christmas for him in case he's no longer here.

Susan, I wish I'd seen it IRL, I really have to start using these stamps more often, amazing job with the colouring. I was so glad you found this in my stash and am so happy it was used for such a special reason.

What a beautiful English village! There are so many scenes like this in England! You've made a wonderful card with the stamp! Beautifully colored and the oval really highlights the scene.

Well, until I read that it was a village in England, I would have guess Germany. I spent some time there and the little village I stayed at had a castle and the streets were cobblestone...well, you get the picture! This is just beautiful!! I LOVE it!!!! Brings back fond memories and I'm sure it will do so for your dad too!
