This is my card for the MIX100 challenge "Hue, Tint, and Shade". Dina provided a color wheel divided into rings of hue, tint and shade. On your project choose 3 main colors - one from each ring. You can choose any colors you wish, as long as one distinguishable shade, hue, and tint are present. I hope I didn't miss the boat here - y'all can be the judge.
I started by melting various red, orange and yellow shade of crayons onto an old iron and applying them to glossy cs. When I was satisfied with it, I buffed it down with a paper towel and stamped a beautiful Heidi Swapp text background with red Stazon, let it dry and stamped and heat embossed the Trailing Beauty image from Penny Black. It was pretty, but WAY too bright for me, so out came the gesso. It was my intention to paint the flowers, but as i was cleaning the gesso off of the embossing, it was coming off of the background as well, leaving a beautiful shine in contrast to the gessoed background. I decided I really liked the look and continued cleaning the gesso off of the flowers and some of the embossing using a damp cotton swab. I did add touches of color in places with Spectrum Noir markers.
The background is attached to the mat layer with foam tape and then attached to the base with Sookwang tape. The sentiment is also attached with foam tape.
It was really hard to get a good photo of this card, but I think you can easily recognize the hues, tints and shades of red, yellow and orange.
As always, thanks for looking!
