This is my card for Susie's HYCCT challenge ~ I've Got Your Back - create your own backgrounds.
And oh boy, for someone who rarely (very rarely) uses DP and loves stamping her own backgrounds, I went through such angst and agonies over this. I made half a dozen other cards that would have fit perfectly and this one was traumatic (in an ok way, Susie ;-)). Compounded by the fact I got sick part way through and it lay unfinished on my desk for 5 days. At least the gesso was bone dry by then, LOL.
Stamped the map twice and coloured it by sponging with various inks. Die-cut the tag and brushed it with gesso.
The card base was sponged with Vintage Photo, also the distressed edges of the map layer and the tag. I stamped the sentiment on the tag, and cut a little strip of "sea" with decorative edged scissors from a leftover bit of map, sponging it heavily with blue. { All my dies were too big for that little chick - he'd have been sailing in a storm.) I fussy-cut the chick and tucked him into the waves, tied the tag with some twine and popped it up on foam tape, lining it up with the stamped background.
You can find the Master Challenge thread with all the HYCCT challenges HERE, and the chat thread is HERE
We do hope you'll join in this fun month of challenges for our 5th annual Hope You Can Cling To card drive, with plenty of prizes for those who participate!

Oh my gosh Sabrina, this is amazing. I love how the gessoed tag and the background map line up...pure genius. I have always loved your handcrafted backgrounds, I think this might be my new favourite!! Thank you of such a detailed description. I have never thought to ink the actual card base. Thank you for creating such a wonderful card for my challenge. If you need a nice long rest.....Australia is a great destination!!

What a stunner this is! I love the depth of colour and texture you achieved in your map background. ...and then to repeat it on the tag. Just phenomenal! The little ducky is so cute. He really fits right in with your sentiment. Wowsers! Do I like this or what?
Couldn't help chuckling when I saw your card. Love that itsy, bitsy, yellow duck in the boat sailing around the world. Fabulous background paper and wonderful sentiment. So very well put together.

Sabrina the sponging on the map is fabulous! and what is cuter than that little brave sailor in his sailboat. Is it the bottom half of his egg? Cuteness factor 10!
