 | | I have wanted forever (well, at least 5 or 6 years!) to try THIS TUTORIAL for a dimensional vellum cup. But it's one of the few tutorials with no associated gallery, and I think that the fact I couldn't see what other people had done put me off ever trying it.
Dina's DTGD challenge the other day made me think of it straight away! I still need to work on the actual base a bit, but DH likes it and says I can't toss it, he'll use it when someone gets a new job. I think part of the problem is that I had totally visualised using a piece of BG Lime Rickey for my coaster. How come when I had two pads of that design, all I could find of that particular pattern was teensty piece already cut with a grass border die. So the Two Scoops coaster is second-best to me, but DH didn't have any preconceptions.
I followed the tutorial exactly. I used a piece of Bazill bling that was just lying around to put my cup on, embossing it first. The coaster is cut with a mega oval from Spellbinders, and I cut a little scrap of white with it too, to put under the cup so that the DP didn't show through.
I am SO please with how my lime turned out!! I punched a circle, sponged it with lime ink. Then I used my stylus to score the segment lines, and then I stamped it with Canvas in Peeled Paint. I punched a smaller circle as a mask for the centre, and then sponged the edges heavily with Peeled Paint for the zest. Then I used a white gel pen to draw the white pith part. The straw is stuck onto the base with redliner tape so it doesn't fall around the place. |
