This is one of those cards that didn't quite turn out as I planned, but I still like how it came out! My plan was to emboss the vellum and then sponge it just enough to make it pop on the Smoky Slate background... buuut the sponging wasn't as dark as I wanted, so I decided to take my brand new Basic Gray ink pad and swipe it over the embossed chevron... well, this is apparently the juiciest ink pad EVER so that made a bit of a mess. I tried to take a q-tip and clean up the parts I didn't want inked as much as possible. Once the vellum dried, I layered it (inked side down!) on a piece of Smoky Slate, which I then put on a Basic Gray base. The banner is popped up on Dimensionals, so is the cupcake.

Oh wow - it may not have been what you had in mind but it looks AMAZING. It has a metallic silver sheen to it that I bet it would have been hard to achieve if that's what you'd set out for, and the cupcake just pops against it.

I LOVE how your card turned out. It sounded like you might have struggles a bit with the juicy ink pad, but your results are wonderful!! A lovely stylish b'day card for both challenges.
