For the Merry Monday Challenge to use holly on a card and for the February SCS Christmas Card Challenge to avoid traditional red/green or blue/silver colour combinations.
The holly is stencilled with silver paste and then I carefully sprinkled (using a straw) some blue and green Pearl Ex Powder. I then heated it from underneath (so that the powder wouldn't blow off). The heating puffed up the paste a bit giving it more texture. I overdid the heating and scorched one of the corners so took some Distress inks and sponged similar ink colours to match the scorched bit. I rounded two corners and left two square to echo the shape of holly leaves. I used a holly dp that already has a bit of a sponged look to it.

Wow ... love the silver paste with the pearl-ex colors added - absolutely gorgeous Susan! Way to save it by adding sponging to match your scorch - wouldn't have known if you hadn't put it in the write-up.

Susan, your holly is so full of texture and beauty. I love it! Could have fooled me with the scorch. You sure took care of that with the sponging. Very pretty card!!!

Wow, Susan, what a beautiful card and an amazing technique! I think the scorching was a good thing as the sponging adds depth to the design. Something I need to work on.
