MIX31 Grungy Drips
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: Cook22

I still haven't managed to play along with last week's MIX challenge to use fabric, so I was determined to carve out a little time today to get drippy. I also combined it with Jeanne's Primary Colours F4A challenge.

I started by making an A2 piece with drips, using watercolour crayons on watercolour paper, and water. It was a bit messy round the edges so I trimmed it down a little. And then I still didn't know what to do with it...
After considering various options I decided to take one of ODBD's Chalkboard Johns and use embossing resist; inking it with Versamark let my drippy background show through, and then after I embossed it with clear EP I just sponged over it to add colour to the text.
I tore along the edges and sponged them.
Next layer is IO's Cover-A-Card Damask (or maybe Reverse Damask) inked with red, yellow and blue and stamped on textured card. I added some embossed, sponged and torn vellum in two of the corners, and sponged the edges with blue. I added a red button and some stitching, and then a butterfly cut from vellum. I embossed the solid layer with white EP using the same IO stamp as the base, and then sponged with my inks.
I like it more than I thought I would - and the drips are there if you look hard! Drips and splotches and splashes just aren't me, I find them hard to work with. But I enjoyed the challenge , therapeutic after a tough week.

AWESOME job...I love how you used primary colors and they are still so soft and pretty. Great job on that bg. Will have to try the drip thing, I dont use them either, but more so because I never think of them...beautiful verse and frame for it...like how you added the lil button on the corner too...TFS..:0)

I'd say that this is a GLORIUS mix! Love everything about your card - the drips, the tears, the scripture and the two cross stitches in the corner!

I had trouble following all that you did to your card, but I will tell you it turned out awesome.

I had a hard time with this challenge, too, Sabrina. But one would never know you struggled with this - it is gorgeous!
