The SU spools of satin ribbons (and many Michael's) fit perfectly in this plastic raingutter that hangs from an above-window shelf in my stamp room. The grosgrain ribbon spools had too large a diameter... so I cut, folded, & secured foam-board into something shaped somewhat like the raingutter. Previously my spools were on rods that were a royal pain if I needed to take a spool off that wasn't on the end (and of course the end ones weren't the ones I needed down). I've tried about 5 or 6 different ways organizing my ribbons and this has been VERY satisfactory to me and had no drawbacks.

neat idea.....never thought of having to take the ribbon off the storage rod...but you are right, I am not gong to stand there tying a knot while it is still hanging...food for thought...might have to try this....
What is holding the organdy ribbons down? (that rod -type piece ) going over them. Is that part of the gutter as well?
I have been pondering the gutters for quite a while. I believe you have finally convinced me! Looks like dh and I will be going to Lowe's in the morning! hehe thanks!
