My daughters have had the opportunity of a lifetime to travel to Europe with a team of cyclists from Canada and The Netherlands. Starting at Juno Beach in Normandie, France, they are cycling the trail that the Canadian soldiers took in WWII to liberate Holland. Their trip goes through France, Belgium and Holland, stopping at Dieppe, Vimy Ridge, Ypres, Flanders, and other cemeteries and museums on the way. The purpose is to make sure the stories of war are never forgotten, as our WWII heros are quickly losing their voice. It has been, so far, both a humbling and inspiring journey for the youth on the team. Thanks to our Canadian soldiers, my parents (my daughters' Oma and Opa) received their liberation, and eventually made their way to a new life in Canada.
Once the team reaches their destination of Markelo, NL, they will stay with host families for several days and participate in memorials, ceremonies and Queen's Day celebrations. I made these cards for them to give to their host families, along with Canadian gifts. Lest we Forget!

The card is fabulous and what a wonderful story! We are seeing the last of the WWII heroes--my father will be 90 next year, and I did a scrapbook for him (I should upload it some day) so that younger family members won't forget how lucky they are!
