 | | This card really suits my mood today. We found out this morning that a long time friend from DH's Navy days is in serious condition and not expected to live. I was mid-card when I heard the news.
I had planned on using my new Umbrella Man die (a surprise gift from a friend!) and so I scoped out this week's Queen Jan/heartsong's gallery for a suitable card to CASE. I found this rugged masculine bday card. Because of the size of the die cut I went without any framing. I started with a dictionary page that had "weather" as one of the keywords. I used grey and white Gesso over it and spritzed with blue reinker spray. I tore the edges and mounted it onto a piece of Island Indigo that I'd distressed. When I die cut my man, I then ran it back through the Big Shot in my most cut up plates adding a shim so that it would lightly emboss the die cut. I then sponged White ink over him and then Versafine onyx around the edges for definition. I inked my top sentiment with a marker and spritzed with water, but then had to use the fine tip of the marker to go around it as it blended into the bg too well. I used a piece of Basic Grey Tasteful Trims die cut rick rack as the strip in my CASEd layout. Last step was to sponged some black around the grey base and on the rick rack a bit. |
