Welcome to June! It means the start of summer (bring on the sunshine!), the end of the school year (my son graduates from high school this month!) and the Creative Crew Challenges. Here's my card for the Catalog Focus: "Use one "new" item in combination with one "old" item. Not old as in age or vintage...something that's been in the catalog for a while. This can be a new embellishment with an old embellishment, a new set with an old background, an old die cut with a new set, you get what I mean ."
My old items: the 3/16" Corner Punch, Silver Emboss Powder and The Open Sea stamp set, which was in last year's Summer Mini Catalog and has made it into the new catalog.
My new items: Summer Starfruit card stock, Comfort Cafe dsp and Naturals Designer Buttons.
I started with a Summer Starfruit card base, rounded two of the corner and added the strip of Comfort Cafe dsp. I stamped the chart information stamp image with Soft Suede ink onto Soft Suede cs, tore and crinkled it up and then sponged the edges with Soft Suede ink. The globe is stamped with Summer Starfruit ink onto Very Vanilla cs, cut out and adhered to the card with Dimensionals.
I decided to use a technique that's *old* too: Faux Metal. (Here's the tutorial: Faux Metal Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers ) I made my compass with this technique. Pretty cool...don't you think?
Finally, I added those three awesome buttons with Mini Glue Dots to finish it off. Won't you play along with us?

Love the faux metal embellishment with wood buttons... I haven't done faux metal in a while, need to get out that heat tool, thanks for the inspiration!

Wow Regina, awesome choices of old and new from the new Annual Catty. I LOVE all your elements. I even like the Summer Starfruit colors. The color looks great with brown tones. Your faux metal image really fooled me...not metal?!?
My favorite of your new items....the Natural Buttons...I am ordering on my 1st order from the new catty :-)

What a great combination Regina. I'm getting that stamp set. I was afraid it was retired. I wanted the matching dsp, but looks like it's sold out. I love your buttons, faux metal and distressed panel.
