It's time for another Teapot Tuesday Party. This week we are helping Joan celebrate her birthday. Joan is the mother of fellow teapotter Emily (scrappinmama72inpa). Joan is struggling with some medical issues - we are hoping to to bring her some happy mail for her birthday.
Joan loves butterflies. So we are bringing lots and lots of butterflies to brighten her day.
I made the black and white background paper. Cut a 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 inch square of white paper. Scored lines every 3/4" on the diagonal. Cut out 3/8" strips of black card stock. On the left lower side I place the black strips just underneath the score lines. Cut off the excess black parts. Matted with 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 black card stock. Sewed Edges. For the butterfly - I found the image from the internet - googled "butterfly" colouring book pages and found one I liked. Printed it out, cut out the butterfly - from the inside of image - to keep the outside section as my mask. Placed the mask over a piece of white cardstock. Sponged Pretty in pink and riding hood red onto butterfly. I used my cloud template to get the scalloped edges on the butterfly to make it more interesting. Stamped on the Artful Asian leaves and the butterflies from the water colour mini set. Stamped on the birthday sentiment. Matted with black and stitched edges with the wandering stitch. Used my white gel pen on the leaves and mini butterflies. Pierecd holes for the big butterflies flight path. Popped up the image, added the Martha Stewart pearls and Stickles.
Hugs..Pat
I will be back tomorrow to edit this.

Okay, so here is what I have to say! How on earth did you think of that half black and white striped deal? That is absolutlely eye catching and wonderful! So amazing with all that stitching and the butterfly costume has clouds in it! OMG! I think this would be a lovely costume for ballroom, their specialty! Ooh, I love it and so will Joan. You sure like to tease us with the little hint of inside you let us peek at! Stinker!
Nanner, Nanner, Boo Boo! Happened to you too! I am sure, when you snapped the picture, Lars flew off chasing a woman! OOh, he is impossible! He did that for my picture too!

You have so many lovely elements here! The butterfly is a stunner, with the tiny butterflies to decorate it! Great stitching, and the border - continued on the inside, too!

What a Beautiful butterfly, Pat!! I love all the wonderful sponging and stamping that is highlighted with the white pen, you've created a real beauty here! Your sewing is like the path this flying flower takes on it's journey to the dance!!
