This is my first post EVER of anything I've made using paper! Please bear with me as I try to describe it.
The banner and little Irish lassie are vintage postcard images I tweaked, resized and printed on white cardstock using an HP printer. I fussy-cut each image using embroidery scissors, a Fiskars fingertip control knife and a self-healing cutting mat. The shamrocks were highlighted using Star Dust Stickles and set aside to dry.
The black mat was cut out first to accomodate the girl and banner so as not to crowd the images and I then adhered a strip of light green lace towards the bottom. I cut out a mat in a sparkling shade of green from the Recollections Gemstones Cardstock Paper pack. This determined the over-all size of the card. After I rounded the mats and card base corners with the 1/4" side of a Crop-A-Dile Corner Chomper, I adhered the two mats together and then to the base using 1/2" Scor-Tape.
I went over the writing on the banner using a Gelly Roll Stardust Clear pen to make the letters stand out and sparkle. The banner and lassie were attached to the black mat using Stampin' Up stampin' dimensionals (pop dots) which gave the card more depth. An Inkadinkado shamrock stamped in Momento black was added to the inside bottom right corner of the card as the finishing touch.
This card measures 5" x 7 1/4" and is the first non-A2 card I've made. It took me a few tries and several pieces of plain white cardstock, which ended up in the trash, but I finally figured out how to make a matching envelope out of an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of cardstock.
This card (and it's 3 sisters) are for my first-ever card swap: Wanna Get Lucky?????
