Winter Scene

Poster: Rox71

I wanted to honor the queen for this weekÂ’s Queen for a Day challenge by casing a layout from her. I used this card in NancyÂ’s gallery and flipped the layout to make it work better for my image and moved my ribbon down.

The image was colored with Copic markers but I didnÂ’t keep track of the colors thisÂ…hope I wonÂ’t need it later!

For the snow I covered the area with a sparkle gel pen which looked to silver to me so I went over the top with a white gel pen and itÂ’s nice because the sparkle still shows through in areas.

The stars are cut from DCWV sparkle cardstock using the Snowflakes die from Cuttlebug and they are glued to the card with Aleene’s tacky glue. The easy way I line them up is to use the Hero Zero rule which has the 0 in the center and the same numbers on each side, so I line up the center star even with the 0 and if the right one is placed at ½” from the 0 then the left goes at the same ½” distance.
I also find it easiest to line them up upside down on the card, touch a stick pin to glue and then touch the back of the star which picks it up. Flip it over, press down with your finger and pull the pin away. This technique of attaching them will only took about two minutes once you start the gluing process.

The striped cross panel is sticker ribbon that I found at a dollar store and the blue is my faux borders; I cut a 1/16” wide strip and glue it to the card.
I also pierced the ribbon tape.

The scalloped edge is cut with Spellbinder Nestabilities.

The snowflakes are cut with a Marvy punch.

The image panel with borders is popped up with foam tape.

This is a lovely card with so much detail, without feeling cluttered. It is both soothing and up-lifting at the same time! The scene is cozy and serene, the colors are perky. A wonderful way to honor Nancy.
