Today, Wendy challenged us to use an embossing folder as our main focal image and boy oh boy was this a challenge for me! I don't own that many embossing folders and of the ones I do own I couldn't come up with a way to use any of them as the focal point. Then I remembered several months ago I had purchased SU's Flower Garden EF but had never used it. After spending too much time thinking about how to use one of the EF's I use all the time, I finally turned to the one EF I hadn't yet used...Flower Garden.
My deets: I ran the ef through the BS to lightly emboss a piece of vellum and then used the smallest tip of a stylus to painstakingly draw every line. While this was tricky and time consuming to do I liked the results. I know there's a name for that technique but I have no idea what it is! I watercolored the image which was also a little tricky because vellum curls when water hits it!! Anywho, I was pleased with the results until I went to mount it on my white base and realized all the color just disappeared. Not to mention, HOW the heck to you mount vellum to anything without the adhesive/glue showing through. Oh, such conundrums... Playing around with different colors for the background I realized it looked best against black (duh, of course). I folded the image around the black and just creased it really well to hold it in place. I stamped my sentiment from Flourishes on a white base, added Pear Pizzaz seam binding and then mounted my embossed focal image. I'm pretty happy with the way it came out and would like to know what you think. So, LMK!!
TFL!! Happy, happy Friday!
