This technique requires heat drying between ink applications and a gloss cardstock; 80% gloss was used but the technique has also been done on a high gloss cardstock.
Direct to paper means rubbing the ink pad on the cardstock.
-Using the direct to paper technique with a swirl motion rub on the sky using two colors, lightest first and if you donÂ’t like the first swipe continue until the line is to your liking.
-Tear in half a piece of paper thatÂ’s larger than the image panel and form a mountain if desired. Mask off the sky area and direct to paper the mountains trying not to over saturate the paper with ink, but if it does leave marks above the landscape just move the mask higher and swipe again to cover the ink.
-Use a second torn paper to mask the mountain area; the inks can overlap. I used a combo of swiping and blotting to add the pink then used a sponge to add darker colors of the same family.
-A third piece of torn paper was used to add the closest hill or I often use a piece that IÂ’ve already used but at a different angle.
-Stamp on the tree image with StazOn – Jet Black, and to blend the image into the landscape mask off using the image as a guide. Direct to paper the hill with StazOn.
-To add a tree line at the base of the mountain I masked off the pink area and inked the very top of the tree image and stamped multiple times.
Now IÂ’ll share how I totally ruined and saved this panel. When I stamped on the tree the image slid on the glossy paper which left a ugly smear. I used the blending solution for alcohol inks and removed the StazOn, touched up the colors that needed it due to fading and stamped the tree again. I thought it was a good save and I just refuse to let paper and ink get the best of me!
-The envelope was create using the masking and sponging techniques.
The image panel and next three borders are mounted on foam squares.
