Kim's challenge this week for the WT was to use a rainbow or rainbow colours. I just got a couple of new sets from ODBD this morning, so I've combined with the current Stamping in Time assignment - It's All About Love.
A2 base, sponged round the edges with Peeled Paint, and then on the very edge with Faded Jeans distress inks.
For the image panel I stamped the butterfly image in the bottom corner with Versafine Olympia Green, and the sentiment with Versafine Black. With a compass I drew a curve for the inner edge of the rainbow, and then with watercolour pencils I added all the colours. Image was coloured with watercolour pencils. The sky is just a pale watercolour wash with regular watercolours. I stamped the image again on thin watercolour paper with StazOn Dove Grey, coloured to match and cut out. They're all stuck to the base at the bodies with the wings popped up. Edges distressed and sponged with blue ink, and a little paper piercing added in the corners.
A bit too absorbing, all that cutting out; there's a pan of burnt chickpeas out in the back yard.
REQUEST - we used to have a book that came from either Canada or the States. I can't remember how to spell it, so it's been hard to look it up. It was about an Indian (Native American) boy collecting feathers, and it was pronounced something like Pira-wy-oo and the Rainbow. If it sounds familiar to anyone I'd love to know how to spell it so I can see if I can track it down.
ETA - thanks to all who helped in my search. I've found it - Piruwayu and the Rainbow by Gilles Saint-Cerere and translated into English, so it most likely did come from Canada.

Sabrina, this is fantastic...sorry about the chickpeas, but they sacrificed themselves for a very worthy cause ;). Love all of the detail that you put into this!

Beautiful, Sabrina - you're going to have so much fun with these wonderful stamps! I love this verse with the rainbow - I had hoped to make another card with a verse about God's faithfulness and keeping His promises paired with a rainbow!
Lovely soft colors.

Burned chickpeas? LOL! Been there, done some burning while I was doing something else. My Mom always forgets popcorn and carrots on the stove....I learned to love them that way!! Love all your butterflies, and that wonderful soft raiinbow!
