I must have esp or something, this morning when I was working on the color challenge (pink, black & white) over at Stamp TV, the idea of split negative popped into my head, but I was already working on two so it slipped my mind that quick. Then I was ready to upload my cards and saw the new challenge was split negative. I am pretty sure I have never even tried this before. I watched the video again, looked through my stamps and decided Valentines Day will be here soon, why not try this one and put my own twist to it. So I started by matching some ep to paper, cutting paper to size. The next test was to use an item I bought at a yard sale, it's a 12-inch Decorative Trimmer from Creative Memories. Thanks to Gina's instructions on the video this split negative thing worked like a charm, even with the added twist. This is the second card, I used some leftovers from my first entry.
Cut out red & white squares, embossed main image from SU's Vintage Valentines set with detail white & rich red ep, cut squares with trimmer. Cut a piece of black for the next layer and used corner rounder punch. A Nesties Label One die was used for the white layer. Grabbed some red & white dp from a matstack, used the corner rounder punch on two corners. The card base is black. The sentiment is from SU's Holidays & Wishes set, embossed on the white piece with detail black ep and cut out sentiment and red piece under with a Clear Dollar Stamp Designer Die. The red hearts are leftover from my first card, I had used a Martha Stewart heart edge punch, had to punch a few white ones to finish up.
I may try this again, and do it the correct way, it was fun! Thanks for looking and any comments.
