For the challenge, but done a little differently than the tutorial. (there are 20 ways to do anything in PS)
BG started out from Natural Breeze kit, but I modified it with overlays and blend modes. Some of the elements are from that kit but the rest are things I pulled off an old hard drive. I can't tell you where or when I got them, but that computer dies 6 years ago.

Alright, Tee, this is a great photo for the masking technique. I agree, at least 20 ways to do something in Photoshop! This is just wonderful, love the expression on his face, too. Such a fun page.

What a great job! The picture works perfectly for this challenge and I love your layout in general. Great choice for BG papers and the elements are very cool!
