This sample project was made for Anna's DTGD10SweetMissDaisy- Keepin' It Rural challenge. It is no secret that I love to create outdoor scenes on card fronts. I thought it would be fun to take it a step further and create a rural farm scene and out it in a frame. I purchased this wooden 5" x 7" frame at Walmart for a couple dollars and painted it with Distress Crackle paint. I stamped the barn on watercolor paper, painted it with reinker mixed with water, masked it and created the scene around it using sponges, brushes, cloud template and my trusty Kittie Kit fern stamp. I stamped Anna's wonderful Greta, the chicks and seed bags on scrap watercolor paper, painted and cut out. Greta's apron was paper pieced with a couple layers to allow for white eyelet trim and the pocket to be cut from the DP. I attached all the images to the scene layer using dimensionals and glue dots. Greta and the seed bags were attached after the scene was layered beneath the mats so they could extend out over the mat. The mats were created by drawing an oblong box smaller than would be nexessary for the framed opening, cut coursely with a craft knife and then carefully cut using my deckle scissors for a fun country texture. The framing cut is not precise but I thought it only added to the charm of this rural scene. This project also qualifies for Deborah's DTGD10DeborahLynneS - A Piece Offering and Jeanne's DTGD10JeanneS- Colour and Kelly's DTGD10kmahany- Anything But Average.
