Today's Free for All challenge, F4A14, is to get inspired by something you collect...non stamping/crafting related...and make a card for it.
I have a collection of Ransburg handpainted stoneware cookie jars. These were sold in the US by door-to-door salesmen starting in the 1930s. If you are interested, you can see more Ransburg items here: http://www.ransburgcollection.com/
So today's card is inspired by one of my cookie jars!! (I included a small photo of a very similar cookie jar that I found on the internet. It may be too small to actually see. Sorry!) To approximate the look of the handpainted flowers, I tried the Black Magic technique for the first time. I don't think it is *true* Black Magic, but I guess it's the same general idea--stamped solid images in white craft ink and then colored on top with colored pencils.
My layout is from a sketch + 3 challenge by Joanne B.: to use the given sketch and then include at least three of the given elements to use in your card. I chose to use kraft paper, stitching, and ledger paper.
This card is quite a departure for me. I've always wanted to try the black magic technique, so this was a good way to test drive it. I'm pretty sure I'll need a lot more practice at this. I found it rather tricky. I'm not really sure how I feel about this one. I'm hoping it grows on me!
Thanks for looking!
Emily

Oh, Emzi..you're such a smart, little cookie. You think of everything. I have never tried the black magic technique but plan to soon. I love what you did. It is just so creative. I'm off to look at the link you left for the stoneware. Very interesting!!!

I have never tried black magic technique, but I am seeing it all over the place now! Yours looks great, black or not. It seems very intricate, like the painting on your cookie jar.
