Well,... I've got orange for the WT258 challenge and border punches and ribbon in use for LSC260, so I can play !!! LOL! I had no idea how this card would turn out, but I'm sure I can pawn it off on someone. LOL! I actually like its unusual appearance. Border punches are currently my favorite tool, so I really had fun.
I started with an Only Orange card base and then built it from there. The stamped and colored image was cut using a Nestability as a stencil. I changed the sides to be narrower and have the same peaks as the top and bottom. It was matted with Summer Sun and ticket punched. An Only Olive piece was border punches on both sides, split in half and attached to the sides of the yellow matte. Small acrylic dots were placed in 3 corners with more daylillies of smaller size in the lower left corner. This now large piece was placed at the top of my 4 1/2" X 6" card.
I punched another strip of Old Olive on each side with my border punch, trimmed the ends to look neater than the less than whole pattern punched ends. It was applied to the lowest part of my card after ribbon was glued to the longwise center. A small SU! oval punched piece was given a handwritten sentiment and added to the lower right border area.
TIP: To calculate how to make a border such as the lower one with ribbon in the center read on.
1. Measure the punching area on the punch itself from the edge where the paper backs up, to the end of the printed punch on the punch base. Mine: 3/4".
2. Multiply this measurement by 2. Mine: 1 1/2".
3. Add the ribbon width. Mine: 1/4".
4. Add any optional amount to give the ribbon some paper border before the punched area starts. Mine: I chose 1/4". (That gave the ribbon 1/8" on each side before the punched area begins.)
So my total Old Olive strip measured before punching: 2 inches (1 1/2" + 1/4" + 1/4" = 2" total) Total is 2" X length needed. Mine was 2" X 4 1/2".
Hope you were able to follow my mini "tutorial." Thanks, as always for looking. Have a blessed weekend. ~Chrysi~
