IC200 Wallet Inspired
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: Cook22

I found time today to make the second card inspired by the IC on Saturday. Well, actually it's a gift-card holder, not a card. I liked some of the wallets - this one and the subway one in particular. One of the reasons I find the IC hard is that I have too literal a mind, so when I saw the wallets, I wanted to make a pocket.
A trawl through the TLC master list gave me this week's Faux Suede for the flowers on the front, TLC 217 Gesso Resist for the front and TLC 196 Gift Card (modified) for the project.
When we buy new city maps for the car, I always keep the old ones for scrap - envelopes, origami and so on. So, I made the pop-up gift card holder with a piece of white card, following Lynn's directions. After I'd creased the folds, I stuck some of the map to each side, sticking one panel at a time and then creasing the map, so that it would still fold. I made an extra crease about 1/" in from the left side of the front, and at the end I added two extra long eyelets between the fold and the edge.
For the gesso resist, after the gesso was dry I masked the centre with a Labels 1 diecut, and then used Hero Arts Old French Writing ;then sponged with Antique Linen and Walnut Stain distress inks. I punched some flowers and leaves from Faux Suede and added them in the centre, with buttons for the centres. I added a tiny little corner flourish from Pink Cat Studios at two corners. Then I tied some paper ribbon through the eyelets, and that's it.
Very not my style, but I really like it.

Love the contrast of the dark ribbon with the soft distressed colors ... what awesome blooms ... I too save maps and love the look of using them in projects ... fantastic inspired design.

Sabrina, your gesso resist is what I noticed first on your card then your lovely little faux suede flowers. It has such an eclectic look. Not your regular style, but so pretty!
