One of the members in my SCS Blog Group Sweet dreamers has a 10 yr old daughter that stamps. Aly started a blog and posts a sketch challenge every 2 weeks- this is sketch one and the 2 week deadline is Sunday. Here is the link: http://www.alyssundaychallenge.blogspot.com/
Well, I have had an idea rolling around in my head for a couple of weeks, and when I saw the sketch it 'spoke to me'.......no, I do not hear voices...... The sketch was just what I wanted to do with a nativity Scene. Perfect! I did the Faux Wood (frame) tutorial in the resources section of SCS by Kim Teasdale: Faux Wood Frame Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers
and used it for the manger. I took the SU texture plate and gave it texture and rubbed Close to Cocoa over that. Perfect!
I took small strips of Creamy Carmel (1/8") and rubbed Creamy Carmel ink over them, then crimped them. I glued some of the pieces on the bottom of the manger, then made 3 little bundles-tied with DMC 610 to complete the sketch challenge. Too cute- and what a great sketch from a 10 year old!

Who wouldnt love this nativity scene? Beautifully colored and so appropriate to what we imagine a nativity scene would look like. Fabulous interpretation and some really great elements here.
