This is for my amazing friend Brenda. We've been friends for almost 30 years and we always manage to do some project together to make "thyme" to be together. From making hand made teacher gifts to canning jelly, we just work so well together!
This year we decided to just "can" some tomatoes. I took the day off and we bought some tomato 'seconds' from the local veggie stand and began steaming up the jars and pots! We dipped and skinned, squeezed and chopped, and made the biggest red juicy mess you've ever seen! We laughed, cried and caught up on all the latest happenings with our families. We talked faith and philosophy and griped about the little stuff on our minds. The cauldron boiled, the steam rose, the timer ticked, the lids popped and we had a couple of jars explode everywhere... but in the end we had the most beautiful stash of 19 jars of canned tomatoes any one could ask for! After a quick run to her herb garden for me to stock up, we parted for another 6 months or year. Later we'll get together for some other project, but maybe next time it'll be with beads or stamps! The Lord has truly blessed me with that kind of sister and friend!
For the card I used some of my new Copic markers gathered at HL this summer. I used multiple colors of green to reflect the various greens in the herbs. Did you notice the warm and fuzzy piece of twine to go with the "natural" theme? Then I got a bright idea and I ran the vellum envelope flap through the CB with the new embossing folder from SU. I LOVE it and want to do that again! It's really a WOW irl!
