Birthday card for my son, Troy. He is my SINGLE outdoorsman. He spent almost four weeks in Alaska a few years ago with 3 friends. They were dropped off on a river 2 1/2 hours by plane away from Anchorage in the middle of no where and floated down a river for the scheduled pick up date. The river was very high due to all of the rain and they had to dodge huge trees floating down the river with them. I was so relieved when he got home!! He hunts every year with his brothers and as a result, various skins and antlers and even a buffalo head can be found in our family room and his bedroom. I call his bedroom the animal cemetary!! Since I love this stamp, I decided to use it as the theme for his birthday. My youngest son, Shane, who is also on my avatar, is also SINGLE. He is only 24 though so I am not too worried but Troy.......
We are going to make this card at church too so I colored with pencils since that is the favorite coloring technique asked for by my awesome church ladies. I used different pencils for 'his outfit' and for the fish but for some reason they color coordinate!!! Go figure, my feminity finally comes out on my son's card. Hope he does not notice it. I added a fly to his card but will have to come up with something else for the church group. They cost $1.00 each!! Yikes!! I don't think we even get that much in donations.
Hope you like it.

Way cool card Sputnik! I love the sparkle on the water. The *fly* was a very nice touch. Love your designer looking fish, must be a California fish. Your dp is so pretty, love the punched edge and your corner treatment. Great colors. Wonderful card. Don't let Troy throw it away or he'll have to answer to his Aunt!!!! Love this card too! TFS :0)

what a great masculine card! And sounds like a perfect card for your outdoorsman! My DH and son (9) sound very much the same- I even hesitate to post many of my scrapbook pages because of all the *ahem* animals in them! Love the glitter on the water and the real fly on there! Cool!

This is so fun. I love that you made this for your DS. The fly is the perfect embellishment. My son cringes when he loses one of those flies. He uses his own money to buy them. They are sacred territory. This set will always be one of my favs. I wish my SINGLE daughters were a little older. We could hook them up. Oldest is 21... Have a great day.
